| THE
TOULOUSE-LAUTREC MUSEUM The
Toulouse-Lautrec Museum is located in the former archbischop's
palace. It contains the most important collection dedicated to
this painter, native of Albi in 1864.
We propose a thrilling tour
of this museum. The exhibited works help to follow the evolution
of Lautrec' style, the events which stood out as landmarks in his
life, the places where he lived and liked to be (theaters,
parisian brothels), the people who played an important role for
him and after his death...

| The
posters are the most well known works of Toulouse-Lautrec : the
"Moulin Rouge", created in 1891, made the reputation of
the painter. This poster is exhibited at the second floor. On the
contrary, the works painted when he was a teenager are very
different (horses are the main theme) and surprise visitors.
Numerous personages
accompany the guided tour : the painter's mother Countess Adèle,
his cousin Gabriel, the childhood friend Maurice Joyant, Madame Mireille
of the Salon in Rue de Moulins, the dancer Jane
Avril, the model and future painter Suzanne Valadon...
